Here is a decent picture of my BN. It took me forever to get it to upload into photobucket and it still get upload all the way so there is gray at the bottom. I tried several times...my laptop is just slow and photobucket never works right.

Anyways...I was quite proud of myself for getting such a good shot. I hardly ever see him and if I do, he doesn't stay there long enough for me to get a good picture.

Is that spot on his head normal? I just noticed it tonight when I took the picture. I had never seen it before? Should I be worried?[/font]

A very nice looking BN. Nicely colored and a nice "mottled" pattern.

The spot appears to just be a part of his color pattern and may just be accentuated by the photo.

Thanks. The picture is a little blurry..but the best and closest I've got of him yet.
I'm glad there's nothing wrong with him. I just had not noticed that spot before. Usually he is upside down on my DW so I can't really see his head.

Nice picture! You will find that spot on the head will probably fade in and out depending on his mood and sometimes it has to do with camelflodging...(lol I know I spelled that one way off!) He looks healthy so I wouldn't worry about it.

I guess I would worry, the only time I saw my bristlenoses displaying mottle they were extremely stressed out. (Heater broke in the tank and it was over 96 degrees). Since then the ones that lived have permanent mottling. I know commons will very by mood, perhaps this species does as well, that is just an awful lot.

Koi

(does he hang out behind/against the heater a whole bunch? The heat damage is what changed my bristlenoses)

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.

Koi-He doesn't usually hang out near the heater. He is usually on the DW or behind it or somewhere on the bottom. So maybe the spot is because of his mood.
I am not home all day so he may have gotten it from the heater...not sure. I'll see if it goes away and let you know.
Thanks everyone...I am quite fond of him myself. I have always wanted one and finally found a LFS that sold them.

What a good looking boy

My male is in a tank with natural colored sand, and he changes color all the time. He get's dark when he's on the driftwood, then pale when he's on the sand. When he tussles with his "mate", he mottles up wonderfully and looks really nice

Personally, I wouldn't worry unless you see him acting strangly.

I never see my BN so it's good to see what they look like from time to time.

First off, nice picture - pity PhotoBucket broke it on you!

Second, if you're referring to the light coloured spot between the eyes, I don't foresee it being anything to worry about. Just an idiosyncrasy of pattern that your Bristlenose happns to possess. Rejoice in its individuality.
