I have had a 30 gallon tank with tropical fish in it for a couple years now but I would like to upgrade to a larger tank to hold Pictus Cats. I would like to get 4-5. I would also like to get other tank mates for them I just don't know what yet. How big of a tank do you think I should get?

Pictus cats typically attain a size of 6" or 7" in aquariums, but do get signficantly larger in the wild. They are normally very active so I would think that at least a 75 gallon tank would be desired and if you can get a larger one, then by all means do so.

The maximum size for Pimelodus pictus is four and a half inches. Other Pimelodus species that are less frequently imported can get about ten inches.

If you get a 55 gallon tank (which is really the minimum needed for these active catfish), you could have about three of them as long as you provide enough decor for each to have its own territory.

I have adult picti in my tank and I am going to lean more towards cory addicts size range. 5 inches maybe but not higher and mine have more food than they know what to do with, they are just done growing. 125 gallon tank understocked.

koi

ps, 55 gallon minimum.
