In the now far-off days before the Board archiving took place, I wrote a post about my 'Piggy Back Otocinclus' (original file on my PC is dated 26/04/2003). One which seemed to like sitting on top of one of its companions, simply for the warm fuzzy feeling it got inside. There was not even a hint of slime coat rasping (which would be pretty uncomfortable off another Otocinclus, given that they have spiny armour!) , rather, the two just seemed to enjoy resting piggy back, one atop the other.

Well, now the story has taken a twist. Apparently one of the Piggy Back Otocinclus has discovered that one of the Pandas is quite sociable in this regard too. And, once again, no hint of slime coat rasping was detected during a good two minutes of observation. Unfortunately, I'd packed the camera away (and my SLR takes four minutes to set up anyway) so I can't show everyone this glorious moment of fishy brotherhood, but for two minutes, one of my Pandas had an Otocinclus resting piggy-back upon it, and the two seemed quite happy about it.

It gives you a warm glow all over when things like that happen in your aquarium, doesn't it?

I've had an otto that would stick onto an African Butterfly fish..didn't appear to be rasping.. and have seen ottos, in another tank, try to suck on a Pearl Gourami's wound.. But not had ottos piggyback on each other..
