My plecos (two) are very active all the time. They used to only roam at night when the light was out but now when I feed the goldfish, they come to the top for feeding. I had never experienced that before. Could it be a sign of starvation? They are about 4 inches long in a 60 gal. tank.
What foods do they like beside the goldfish pellets and flake food?
Thanks

My commons used to do that a lot, and they're always nice and fat. I don't think it has anything to do with starvation. If you're really taht worried, watch them as they suck on the glass--make sure their belies are nice and round--or at the least, flat.

I have a common Pleco in one tank and a leopard pleco in another tank. When it's lights out I drop a couple of the algae wafers into each tank. They seem to be doing fine with those. Mine, come to find out were not being fed enough. The common pleco decided to suck the scales off my oscar one night. Oscar is fine and the catfish now gets his own meal.

I've heard/seen plecos coming to the top for feeding.

It probably isn't a sign of starvation, but out of curiosity, do you have a nice crop of algae for them, or do you feed some sort of sinking wafer or pellet??
