Can anyone refer me to some good books on plecos, or even all Loricariids? We don't have any at work, and I would really love to gain some more base knowledge on these fish. They are so many in number that the Internet is only a slight help, especially since so many plecos are tough to find. Thanks for your help!

I'm afraid that doesn't help me much. The DATZ is a German aquarist magazine, right? Did they put out a pleco book, or a series of articles? I want to be able to read whatever this is, so a little more specificity would be appreciated. Thanks.

Basically, they began the whole L-classification trend. Great for you billinguists. And for those who aren't, well, it's still eye candy, if nothing else. The only other book I'd advise you to get would be the aqualog. Nothing else really comes close to documenting all the L numbers.

DATZ have published a book containing all known L-numbers to date. Since it's German, you'll have to hunt via the German title, "L-nummern", on Amazon.com or similar. Allegedly includes care and breeding advice for those whose captive breeding is known and documented.

I believe Marc has a copy--I'd ask him if I were you.

Actually, the DATZ L-number book has text in both English and German if I read the review correctly ....

I'm considering buying the new Aqualog pleco book. It apparently retails at around $110, but I found it on EBay for $72.50. That is a relative bargain, so I might spring for the book. Goodness knows, I'd learn a ton about plecos by reading through it. I've heard good things about this book, would this be a good buy?
