I sold some fish back to the LFS then added my pleco and simese algae eater into a tank that already housed the same bottom dwellers. Well, the pleco used to remain in his log all the time, occasionally coming out late at night to feed. Now he is very active in the new tank and I was wondering if it was due to the existance of the othere pleco or the fact he is now in warmer water. He was in with goldfish at room temp prior to the change. Any thoughts?

Temperature can definitely play a factor. Also, exploring new territory could also be a factor; your plec may settle down soon after it's taken everything into its mind.:%)

I know that my bettas are MUCH more active after I started heating their tanks. They're even more active now that it's warmer outside. Temperature has a lot to do with activity level, though it could be the new-home deal that Shinigami mentioned, too.

Plecos can survive at low temperatures but they need higher temps long-term. Its definately as a result of the increase in temp. It no longer needs to conserve energy and will move about freely.

I've also noticed that a falling barometer makes my fish a little bit sluggish and they go off their food.
