OK, I did a really dumb thing. I went to the LFS a few months ago and got a fish solely on the word of the workers that this "Pleco Species" would not get more than six inches. I needed a tankmate in my 10g for my bulldog Pleco. I am now staring at this two inch long Pleco, at least, and know now that this is a common Pleco.

I have an empty 30g that will soon be stocked again, and a 55g that is stocked with my african cichlids and my syno. Can I put the Pleco in the 55g without being attacked by the cichlids? For size comparison, the Pleco is bigger than half the cichlids I just recently stocked.

As my small apartment is now very short on space due to the 55g, I cannot get a larger tank anywhere in the near future....

Go for it. Once the pleco hits around 8", return it to the store for credit.

On the other hand, IMO, bulldogs, at around 4-5", need at least a 20 long to be happy in.

Really? Maybe we should have that added to the profile somewhere, unless I skipped over it. I was searching for the right algae eater for my 10g planted. Oh well.... looks like I "Have" to turn my 30g into a planted tank now (I was thinkin of doin that anyways!!)

Wait... Return???? No way!!! I'll just have to get a bigger tank now. hehehe :%) I never part with my finny friends unless the big fish in the sky takes them... They're all my babies!!

my two sailfin plecos are now about 6 inches long each... they live with 2 sea monsters (sorry cant spell the scientific name) 2 gold severum, 2 dolphin cichlid, two peacocks, 2 parrot fish, two ruby barbs & 5 black widows.

My plecos are happy are bright & never get bullied but the are in a 125g set up...I want to move the barbs & widows out but have no idea how I'll get them out!

Anita.

Well, if you want to keep him, you'll need to look into a pond or a 125 gallon tank in a few years.

Hee hee hee.... more and bigger tanks...
We're hoping to have the *whole* house in a "few" years (last time I checked, it was suposed to be August, but I don't see that happening).

I got my boyfriend drooling over the 180g at the lfs a few months back, so once we have the space I do not see a larger tank as a problem. Only the money......
