They had some about 3" labled comon plecos, but they also had a pleco that was 5" or so. There was no other lable. This pleco was black with sort-of grey/white and brown markings like a leopard, but the overall effect was that it looked black. I wanted to buy it but wasn't sure how big it could get, my tank is only 12" wide. I looked in my fish books but couldnt find it, & my computer will not let me into the fish profiles here. I sure i've seen there before, can anyone tell me anything from the desc |

IMO, I'd think twice about keeping one in a 12" wide unless you have relatively little decor, as though they only get to aout 7", it still seems a bit cramped. But other than that, they are great and fairly undemanding plecs---on top of that, they're one of the few L series that actually eats algae. My little leo shut down a one year operation of hair algae in about a week. Great fellahs, and really pretty, too. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&q=L-264 Last edited by Cup_of_Lifenoodles at 20-Oct-2004 23:11 |

I've heard good things about SAEs and ottos with hair algae. |
