I now have 11 clown loaches and they are fairly small. But next year, I plan to buy a bigger house with a small front yard. I am thinking of a pond for the clown loaches, with a mesh covering to protect from birds, or an inhouse 8 feet, by 2 1/2 feet, by 2 1/2 feet tank.

The pond ofcourse, would be much bigger and nicer and we have very warm temp in Mumbai, India, so clowns would not suffer. I am also going to make arrangements for a heater in the pond

So help me decide, do I make a new pond for my fish, or a new fish tank.

What are the pros and cons.

i think the biggest difference will be a pond you will have to go outside and see your fish from above. nasty rainy days you will be stuck inside unless your about to sit in the rain to watch your fish.
indoors in a tank you have more control of everything includeing spotting disease or sickness in its early stages, and most will tell you the earlier you spot problems the better.
these 2 points are the ones that stick out the most to me. each is huge for your happyness and your fish. now im sure others will cue in and give you ways around these problems and thats fine. personally i perfer tanks i dont care how large they are.

The reason I was thinking of a pond is because, I have a space outside my 5th floor flat at the moment, which is more like a parapet with 3 walls in cement, one side with a grill. A cement bottom which is around 10 inches thick.

I am thinking of how best to use this unused space, and obviously the first thought that came to my mind is to convert it into a fish pond. I was thinking, that later on, I could move the fish in this pond to an outdoor pond in my new house.

Ofcourse, I agree, I will not be able to see my fish all the time.
