I have a 75 gallon tank that is about 8 months old. It is an upgrade from my 30 gallon. I was able to use the gravel and some water from the 30 when I switched over. The tank was established quickly. I first got a rubber lip pleco about 3 months ago. He died after about 5 days. I got a bristlenose pleco about 2 weeks ago, and he died after about a week and a half. I also had bought 4 ottos about 4 months ago and they all died by the month mark. I was supplementing the diet with algae waffers almost every night that I had them. Why would I be having so many problems with algae eaters. I've decided no more and just bought some alage fix to try to keep the algae under control. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be appreciated.

also, i have had a pleco successfully before, but it was a common pleco, and when he got too big, i had to give him away. that was in the 30 gallon.

Might be something to do with the water quality. What are your parameters? As for the oto's I have heard they can die quickly if not acclimated properly.I have never had problems myself but its a possibility.

algae eaters love algae, but they also love supplemented foods.. by that they mean other foods than algae... veggies, sinking bottom feeeder pellets (contian shrimp, and other fish products), and algae wafers. varied diet helps the fish, not just algae wafers and algae.
also you might have a fish terrorizing the plecos and/or your water quality is bad. ottos are really delicate so that is no surprise, but most plecos are fairly hardy. maybe if you dont have luck with the fish try some large ans small snails. they will clean up your tank real quick. might i recommend like 5 Apple/mystery snails and a handful or two Malaysian Trumpet Snails (MTS).

these will be great aditions to your tank... also ottos, and plecos like caves and places to hide, with out these they are intimidated and can die...

maybe a pic of your tank and water specifications can help us determine the cause.. als o maybe a stock list.
