Are pygmy cories fairly hardy? What is the best thing to feed them? Thanks.

You can feed them pieces of Sinking Pellets, that are made for Bottom Feeders.

They're pretty hardy as far as the dwarf Corydoras go. These fish will eat just about anything you offer them, stuff like flakes and sinking carnivore pellets are accepted. They really enjoy frozen and live worms if you can buy them, and get worms small enough for the catfish to eat.

Two things to bear in mind with Pygmy Corys:

[1] They are more 'avowedly social' than the larger Corys, and you should, if possible, get a group of 8 of them if space permits. They'll be a LOT happier in numbers. The more, the merrier, applies to Pygmy Corys pretty heavily;

[2] They may be less happy with a gunky gravel bed than the likes of Bronze and Peppered Corys. While no Cory is truly happy over a gunky gravel bed (well, would YOU want to sleep on top of someone else's dung?) Peppered and Bronze Corys are relatively tolerant of occasional maintenance lapses. Pygmy Corys will probably demand somewhat more scrupulous attention to gravel vacs to be truly happy.

Apart from that, and of course the fact that Pygmy Corys spend a lot of time swimming in midwater (in the wild, they associate with a similarly marked Characin called Hemigrammus levis - the old 'safety in numbers' routine), maintenance is fairly standard. Give them plant thickets, some open water spaces, bogwood or stone caves to play in, the usual nice stimulating Cory playground. They'll be particularly happy if they have something fine leaved among the plants to nose around in - Java Moss will be an excellent choice of plant to furnish their aquarium, particularly if it's growing on a nice intricate bogwood lump with lots of holes in to give them caves to play in.
