I was gonna buy a RTBS, would it go with clown loaches, yoyo loaches, corys, WCMM (and other tetra alike) and gouramis?

What size tank is this going in. If you have the proper number of clown loaches you should have the proper amount of space. Then i could say you could keep one but in 55 or below i wouldnt do it.

I've got a RTBS in my 55 with cories and several different types of tetras. All have been in the tank for quite a long time and so far there have been no problems.

If your tank is 125 gallons like you said it is which i have never heard you say that you had a 125 then you could keep a red tailed black shark.

I personally wouldn't keep a RTB shark with Clown Loaches no matter what size tank you happen to have, because of the similar body shape and colouration. RTB's will go after anything that resembles another RTB, and the closer the similarity the worse the aggression in my experience. Stick with the Clowns, a nice big group of them in a nicely decorated 125 would be great!

*Returns quietly for quick answer*

There is a possibility that some issues may arise between your clown loaches and the RTS, but most likely, nothing will happen. A 125 gallon is more than enough room for an RTS to feel comfortable in, so there probably won't be any aggression issues. At worst, I'd worry that he may chase your white clouds around some...

Make sure you have a cave of some kind for him so that he can stake out a territory. Everything should work out nicely...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

i have kept several rtbs in my 125gal over the past few years, and all have had different quirks. all have the potential to be rather nasty with other species, but- imo- each rtbs has a different personality. also, if they are introduced after the other fish have established a pecking order, it has less of a chance of becoming a demonic fish.

i have only had one that liked to pick on other fish. however, the tank is big enough that no true damage was done do anyone. one had the personality of a guppy- it would not bother anything.

if you do introduce a nasty rtbs in your tank, good luck netting him. my "mean" rtbs ended up dying of old age in the 125 because i could not catch him to put him in another tank.

Are the clown loaches larger than the RTBS? Maybe the RTBS wont bother them (MAYBE) if the loaches are larger and are in the tank before the the RTBS.
