Recently, last wed., I acquired a royal pleco - George. George came home in his little baggy a little stressed. I could tell because all the brown poop in the bag which looked normal. 2 days latter I noticed he was pooping the same texture, but it was white. I have been watching him everyday and he seems extremely active. I try to feed him the algea sinking pellets(they are about a dime size) every 3 days (instructions from pet store), but he wants nothing to do with them. He just swims by them. I wait till an hour after lights out too. The tinfoils always end up eating it. There is 2 large driftwood in the tank and lighthouse and large rocks. The driftwood seems to be his favorite or the lighthouse. Do you think he is ok? Do you think it's just an adjustment to his system. All the tanks specs seem to be good. Please help!

He's not getting enough food. Royals don't compete well with fast moving, agressive eaters such as tinfoils, and wll require a while to get settled in to their new home. I would section off a part of the tank for him.

How do I section off part of the tank for him? Do you have any suggestions on food he might better prefer?

Try feeding it hikary sinking algar wafers.

Also, try putting the food where he usually hides in your tank

I do have those sinking algea pellets. I put them where he hides, but then he swims by them and then the other fish get it. I feel at a total loss.

If he wont accept algae wafers, try romaine, and if he won't eat that, you're out of luck. Get a tank divider suited for your tank from the store, set it up on one end of the tank and keep only him in it.

I had the same problem with Royal Plecs. 2 both wouldn`t eat and eventually died. Try to section off and feed a variety of different foods in the section he is in and see which one he prefers and then keep feeding that. Don`t feed him lots of it straight away as they can die then from having a shock on the stomach from nothing to lots in couple of minutes.
