Well i bought 5 ottos 15 days ago, i found one dead today

tank conditions are perfect, i tested as soon as i found him, then did a 15% PWC just in case, i feed flakes, alage disks, catfish pellets, every other day, there is also some cucumber, and brocoli in there too never scrape any algae off any of the walls of my tank there are only a few spots of algae mind. They don't look fat, but they don't look slim, i do see them nibbling at the cucumber, and something has had a go at the brocoli altho i expect that was my BN

Is there anything else i can do?

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Otto's can be kind of like fishy versions of lemmings for the first couple weeks . By most accounts I've heard, even using good acclamation in ideal parameters, many of them don't make it. I would say keep your water parameters as stable as possible, and avoid stressing the little guys out.

Sometimes otos are just that way. I don't think it was anything you did wrong. They survived 15 days before anything happened so you acclimated them pretty well. It is possible that they have internal parasites.

The next time you see any of them on the glass, see how long they are sitting in one spot and try to take notice if any are bleeding at the vent (where poop comes out).

Make sure your paramters are outstanding. Zero for ammonia and nitrite is a must and nitrates must be low (5-15 being ideal).

Sorry bout your loss chrism, I lost 1 otto 3 months after getting them and another a few months after that. Make sure your temp is within their range, and also increase water current if possible with a powerhead.

god i didnt even think about temp, it 26ºC acording to the profile on this site, thats right at the top of their range, i think i'll lower it, by 1º tonight, and maybe another tomo, thanks babel!

i also increased flow rate the other day

I've just spent the last 15mins looking for my fourth otto cant find him anywhere, not even a body... so i guess thats a good sign

Panic over! Found him, think he might have been stuck inbetween the algae and the leaves of the my nana, couldnt see him moving so i gave him a poke, he wiggled, so i poked him again lol then he swam off...

(I say poked i mean nudged a leaf - no fish were harmed during the making of this post)
