But i ended up buying a true SAE... I was SOOOOOO close to dishing out the 12.99 each for the 3 Sids they had in the tank. The chain pattern they have is so cool and they were constantly together searching through the substrate. I am very pleased with my "True" SAE though but i'm still wondering if i should have scooped up those "monkeys"!!! So should i: A) Go back tommorrow morning when the store opens and snatch them up? or B) Just forget about them and enjoy my SAE?

Right now my 29 gallon tank holds: 1 Bolivian Ram, 4 Black Ruby Barbs, 1 Dwarf Flame Gourami, 1 SAE, 5 Tiger Barbs and 2 Cherry Barbs. Any way i could return my Gourami and Ram and get the Loaches? Would love to hear your responses on this ASAP. Thanks!!!

$12.99 is actually a pretty good price. You should snatch them up while you can - they are becoming increasingly rare.

Personally, I'd get the loaches. They are indeed tough to find, and they're endearing little things. Loaches are usually very interesting fish, and I don't think that these are any different. On top of all that, they have cooler patterning than the SAE.

You don't know if you'll ever see the loaches again, so you may as well buy them.

I wouldn´t exchange my six sids for a fullgrown stingray with appropriately sized tank!!!

I guess you can interprate that into a response for your question.

On the other hand I can´t agree that they are getting increasingly rare. My impression is that they are getting more available witch would mean that they are beeing commercialy breed somewhere. I know for a fact that they have been breed i captivity so this was only a matter of time. In a few years they will hopefully be as cheap as their larger cousin - the clown.

$12.99 each? Cheap. BUY THEM!

They're £10 each here in the UK minimum (that's around $16 US) so you'll be getting a bargain. And perfect snail eaters for the more modest sized aquarium. Lovely little guys, wish I could [1] find them, and [2] afford them ...

They just recently became available here in Australia, so there are heaps of them in LFS now, selling for around AU$15 (the same price I paid for my SAE actually ). I got 3 of them a few weeks ago and they're really crazy, hyper little guys. They just can't sit still. Can't vouch for their snail-eating ability though, the my ramshorn snails are still proliferating in my tank. Perhaps when they're bigger?

Anyways, get them if you need some serious entertainment in your tank.
