Thankyou 10gallon: 8neons 5gallon: 1betta 1oto 2platys |

That's just the way they are. The best ways to counteract the shy nature of some Corydoras is to make them feel comfortable and happy, with plenty of conspecifics and hiding areas. What species are they? Some tend to be more shy than others. |

Unless you need to improve some aspect of their care, you should just be able to wait their nervousness out. |

In bigger groups cories should be less scared. I have 4 different cory species in my tanks. I have Pandas, Aeneus (albino), trilineatus, and sodalis. My trilineatus and aeneus cories are the boldest. The aeneus are actually the boldest out of all. I have 4 1 inch albinos in my 29g. They will eventually move to a 55g I'm setting up soon. They are always out digging in the gravel and don't run when I come up to the tank. All the other cories do. Especially the pandas and they are supposed to be playful and kind of bold. I think in higher numbers they feel more secure. Secure=bolder. I have mine in relatively small numbers. I thought the trilineatus and sodalis cories would hang out, but both are quite shy. Maybe when you get more, they will feel more secure. Also, it may be the cycling process that makes them less bold. |
