Well, I set up one
of my 10g tanks, and moved my remaining
couple of guppies into it.
I went to the LFS today cuz my
BF said I should get a couple
of "sweepers"
(what he calls catfish ) to
keep the bottom clean.
This is who I found, arent they adorable? :

In Bag

Out of Bag

They are Salt and Pepper
or Hasbrosus Cory Cats arent they?
They were listed as "Pygmy Cory"
I got a great price on them too,
only 3.99 each! So, naturally,
I bought all 5 of them lol

Oh, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

You are about to discover the fatally addictive condition known as 'being a Cory owner'.

Especially with habrosus. Once they settle in, they will be a source of mirth and merriment the like of which you have never encountered before (unless you already have other frantic and hyperactive Corys extant in your collection of course ) Dear little habrosus are, when they are happy, little finned buzz bombs of activity that rival Pandas for comedy value. Heidi will tell you - hers don Rising Sun bandanas, and perform kamikaze bombing runs on her bubble wall just for the fun of it. You are in for a LOT of fun.

By the way, some of the pieces of that substrate look a bit angular to me. habrosus tend to prefer rounded gravel. If that substrate is fluorite, then I'd be warned, Cory_Di had BIG issues with habrosus and fluorite, because they tend to be a tad picky about their substrate. Derek Lambourne also noted this in his book on Corydoras catfishes. I'd consider putting a thin layer of rounded gravel on top of that substrate to keep your habrosus happy if I were you.

Otherwise, welcome to the Cory Slaves Society

I know! I think I am already a member lol
This makes my 6th species of Cory cat
These guys are so active and cute, I cant believe
how lucky I was to come across them
I just got a new job, so they were like a
present, and on my first pay day, I am going
to go back and get the "Fowleri" cory cats they have in there if they are still there.
How many of these little hasbrosus can I put in my 10?
The only other occupants are 4 guppies.
Also, on my first pay day I am either going to replace the gravel with Eco-Complete or Sand.
That is just regular white gravel in there.
Do you its possible to breed these tiny guys? I would love that so much.

Breeding shouldn't be difficult. Feed them lots of live food and implement regular, scrupulous water changes & gravel vacs. Works for my Pandas.

Be prepared for the activity to border on utter mayhem in the style of the Lemmings computer game once they *do* start spawning.

Oh, and I wouldn't get sand. The Lambourne book mentions issues with habrosus fry and sand. Rounded gravel would be a much better choice.

Cali are you talking about my insane little friends again Yes, they are C. Hasbrosus, and I find mine to be totally hysterical Cali wasn't lying when he said that they dive bomb the airstones...

They seem to swim to the top of the tank and take turns in pairs or so and literally dive bomb the airstone as fast as they can, then slam on their brakes just before hitting the bottom, and swim just as fast back to the top...

My goofy little guys have convinced the Harlequin Rasboras, Juvenile C. metae, and Lucky the Betta that it is great fun, and it is hilarious when they all go at it at one time, you can literally lay in the floor laughing till you wet your pants I suggest that you get an airpump, with one of those long airstones and set it up for them against a wall, and wait for the fun to begin

I'm not positive, that is why I haven't mentioned itbut I do believe that they are fairly easy to breedbecause they are so active it is hard to get a total count of mine at one time in the 125, but while doing a really good/deep gravel clean yesterday, I noticed some Hasbrosus that look a little small to have been the ones I bought in March, as they are much larger, soyes I believe they are easy to breedthough i can't be positive

Enjoy them and get a larger tank so you can have a nice large school of them heidi

Oh, yes. Get an aquarium that's big enough to take on 20 habrosus and mayhem will almost certainly ensue. If you use a UGF with a powerhead, and set it up to produce a stream of bubbles, chances are they'll surf the current from that too, and provide hours of manic entertainment in the process. But if you want to give them a bubble wall as well, then take your cue from Heidi and her kamikaze bomber squad

Hmmmmmmmmm, I've been thinking of adding a partial UGF to my 125 (See this post for reasoning) and adding a powerhead might be a good idea

So Cali knowing how the metaes are breeding and possibly the hasbrosus, what side would you say to add it to? The metaes seem to drop their eggs in the middle by the driftwood centerpiece, while the fry seem to like to come out and play on the right side...So think I should move the canister that is working and not ticking me off, to the right side, and doing the UGF on the left?
