OK I noticed this about a week ago and keep meaning to ask, but haven't because I feel stupid, so I give in, I'm asking

About a week or so ago, I did the typical I want to see all my Khulies and metae fry/juveniles, so I picked up the driftwood, and watched everyone go ballistic trying to get away or whatever it is they are doing

But, this one Khuli caught my attention...I don't know how to sex themdoes anyonebut for simplicity it's gonna be a she She seemed to be quite a bit fatter than the rest...she's close to 4 inches long and oh about 1/2 or more thick...no problem I know most of my fishies are a bit on the larger sidebut, she seemed to have this pooch Yes, a pooch for lack of wording...the only way I can describe it is like on my cats the tummy seemed to drag in the middle or dip down lower than the rest? The first and last 1/2-1 inch of each end was fine, then the middle looked like she was pregnant/carrying eggs? and I guess it was stretched, as she is a striped Khuli, that part of the tummy was grayish in color...

So is she ok? I haven't had a chance to get a photo of her, but will try soon...has anyone noticed anything similar on their khulies? Is she full of eggs? Overweight? Just old? Curious, will get photo in the next day or soheidi

One of my striped khulis looked like a snake that just ate a rat. Yes, I do believe she was carrying eggs. I found a picture of what eggs look like and I do believe I saw some in the tank. The eggs look like a fuzzy ball of green alge and have an incubation period of 48 hours. Unfortunately I did not find this out until it was to late. (bummer) So you might have a realy pregnant khuli. good luck

OK Now I am going to have to go and take a close look at her again, and start looking for fuzzy green, or at least green eggs in the tankthis could be quite amusing:%)if they actually succeed in making me babieshml

As far as I know its amazingly rare for them to breed in captivity, so you must be doing something right! Keep us updated on if they breed btw, cause I for one would love to see some baby kuhli's.... how cute would that be??
