OK, I was thinking about breeding queen arabesques in a 15g but my LFS haven`t got any in yet and may not for a while.

I was just wondering would it be possible to create a small plec tank instead. I was thinking something like Queen Arabesque, Tapajas Zebra (currently in stock) then maybe another small Plec or 2. Sound ok???

All in the 15 gallon?

Be warned that if you want an all pleco tank, not all plecos get along with one another, and they are all poop machines, so you're going to have to keep up with gravel vacs and WC's regularly to keep ammonia and stuff at a reasonable level.

humm, alot of plecos in a 15g tank, you would need to do at least 2-3 water changes a week so the water doesnt foul.

I know that Plecs don`t get along sometimes, I also know that Plecs are poop machines but it would be worse if they were algae eaters, thats why I am going for all carnivores. I think 4 might be pushing ot so would only go for three probably, unless there is a dwarf plec that really appeals to me then I might be tempted lol.

Not all plecos produce large amounts of waste. Naturally, the larger the species the more waste they produce. Herbivores tend to also excrete more waste attributed from having to feed on a larger portions of vegetable matter to extract enough nutrients neccesary for survival. Thus smaller, carnivorous plecs such as queens and relatives are not so, uh, "poopy". I don't know what a tapajos zebra is, as common names sually throw me off. Is the tapajos zebra pleco synonymous to the chocolate zebra pleco L-270, or the zebra peckoltia peckoltia sp.? What about the butterfly pleco (dyksteria sp.).

A 15 gallon is too small to hold most plecs, even teh smaller ones. If you could upgrade to like, say, a twenty long, your possibilities will be endless.

IMO, a Rio Xingu tank would be AWESOME. Zebras, King tigers, queen arabesques, insectors, scobis (fit only for 100+ gallonage), eight series gold nuggets (also only fit for 100+ gallonage). Actually, most hypans come from this area, so you should be fine picking any of the genus. remember, sand or smooth bottomed gravel, plenty of rockwork, no plants, and swift current/bogwood.

yeah, its the chocolate.

I can`t really upgrade at this time to a 20g long and this tank has been running now for over 3 months empty so is just waiting for Plecs.

I have decided only 3 Plecs to go in and no bigger than 4 inches each Plec so that means at the most will be 15 inches so won`t be overstocked by much and will be able to cope.

I like the look of the chocolate zebra and queens (still might go for breeding them if get chance) and I will just wait and see really

Very well. One chocolate and two queens, IMO, would be a good tank.

Reckon I could still breed the Queens with the Chocolate in there as well?

Could there be maybe a shrimp or 2 added for algae or no?

It's unlikely that in a pair you'll manage to get a spawn, but the chocolate zebra in there won't keep them from making babies--I've had king tigers spawn in the presence of peppermints and goldies.
