The store I work at usaully has atleast 5-6 variaties of cories. We have gotten Pandas, Swartz, Tri, Albino, Anneus, Palaetus, and more. Got to the local places and ask when the do the fish order. Ask them when they get the list of available fish. They may have any number of uncommon species. The list changes weekly so check often.

Yeah, it can be crazy at times.

I think Premier Aquatics, Aquarium Oddballs, and Tulsa Aquatics (only open Thu - Sun) are the only ones that don't have most of their employees as high school kids.

There's a lady in OKC that posts on the e-mail list / Yahoo Group that is trying to breed Panda cories. They're cute, I'll give her that.

Hope the order works out for you... if it doesn't let me know and I'll keep an eye peeled for you.

Hey chelaine...

I'm the VP for Tulsa for the Oklahoma Aquarium Association. We typically meet on the 3rd Sunday of the month at the Tulsa Zoo (free to get in). We usually have a presentation or tour of somewhere and then an auction with plants, equipment, and fish, that usually go for pretty cheap. Some members also like to pool orders for online fish to split up the cost of shipping. For more info- www.okcaa.org. There is an e-mail list you can join.

I recently (actually just- this is my 2nd post) found FishProfiles.Com. Lately I've been going to the top sites on Aquarank to look for Oklahomans and invite them out to the meetings. So, if you're interested or want to know more, consider yourself "invited".

There are a few decent LFS in Tulsa, as you've found, some will order stuff for you. I personally haven't seen any Panda Cories- but I will PM you a couple of shops that are good about ordering stuff or sometimes have rare/unusual cories.

If you live in the north east Aquarium Adventure has them for around 8$ its a great store and has amazing quality of fish. They have stores in Cincinati, Columbus, Cleveland, Long Island and Hoffman Estates IL. Hope that helps.

Have you looked at any Internet sources? There are plenty of panda cories available, even captive-bred ones.

Good luck finding pandas! I looked when I was first considering them. I live in a major city in Indiana (not Indy, a little smaller, but still big) and checked all the stores and both WalMart SuperCenters. None out here either. I found one place that had a name plate for them, so they either stocked them at one point or were out, but I would not buy from them... The store was, to put it politely, gross and made me happy I was not a fish or a hamster (Shudders) I won't be checking back with them to see if they get them in either, though I think Pandas are adorable !

I am just now experiencing ordering from LFS's. I ordered some rummies from a small fish place nearby and will get them tomorrow. I am going to ask the man that owns it if he can order me some pandas. I would much rather pay a little more to him than buy them from Walmart. I am worried about the price since pandas are usually more than other cories. Hopefully he can get them and at a decent price. I am crossing my fingers.:%)

Okay, so last week, i went on a fish hunt, to buy some new fishies for my 55 gallon, my town does not have an LFS, so my choices were Petsmart, Petco, and Walmart...

i looked EVERYWHERE for panda cories, and the closest i got was WALMART with "Assorted Cories".

is there something up with cories this fall? i asked the "fish specialists" at each store, mind you i tried all three petsmarts (even tried on in a neighboring town), and two petcos, and all stores said they will no longer carry them.

MAKES ME WONDER?!?!?!

Does anyone have a clue whats up?

Cup, you are very lucky.
The most common cories around here are false juliis/spotted (trilineatus and sodalis) and aeneus. Hard to find any other kind. I got lucky when I found my pandas at Walmart. I just hope I can find more...or atleast get some ordered for me at a decent price.

Pandas and melini are the two most common corydoras around here, save of course, paleatus and aeneus.

Pandas can be difficult to find anywhere. It's taken me a year to build up a proper schooling and I'm still searching for more. I buy them whenever I see them.

I just recently found pandas at a Walmart near me (I am in AL). I have six petstores (only one being a true fish place) in my area, 4 are chain stores and none of them have ever had pandas when I went there. The Walmart I found them at is one that I don't ever go to, just happened to be in the area at that time. I was so excited and bought 5 for my 55g. Sadly 2 died, but I am going to go on a hunt soon, after the ich is gone to find some more. I am not sure that I will find them though.
So its not just your state or area that doesn't readily stock them. :%) I wish they were readily available everywhere. They are so fun to watch.

In Malta it's quite difficult to find Panda Corydoras & when they are imported, they are quite small & a big price tag.

All the chains usually stock the sme things. The store across town from the other one will most likely have the same stock. This is because the company limits the selection of availible fish to the ones that are cheap, easly to care for, and in demand. Because few people know about different species the stores don't stock them in favor of other fish. LFSs however usually have a bigger selection and they have more fish to choose from.
