Clownygirl, if you have bogwood arches and other similar furnishings in your aquarium, the talking cats will adopt them as home.

As has been said above, they like shade. Once they're acclimatised they may decide to show themselves more often. But this is contingent on there being large areas of shade to sit under. The kind of bogwood arrangement I have in my Panda Fun Palace scaled up to your big aquarium would be ideal, especially if the bogwood pieces had nice forests of Java Ferns growing on them like mine. That would provide the talking cats with all the shade they'd need, and they'd be more visible during the daytime. Once emboldened by secure hiding places, they'd compete more vigorously for tasty titbits.

Oh, and be prepared for your aquarium to start sounding like a pig farm.

I dont really want to try taking the poor fish out of the water. I do see the large Convict take the tiny raphael in his mouth and give him a good shake, tho he spits him right out because of the pokey spines

The one that looks small is not exactly small either Those are typical coconut halves, so bigger than my fist

I watch mine swim everyday and I mean all through the tank all over the place. They are very. very active, but only during certain times. For mine every morning my alarm goes off at 5 am, I pull my grumpy self out of bed and wake up on a couch in the dark living room watching the raphael swim all over that tank. The rising sun gives just barely enough light to see in the dark room, but sometimesz I turn on a light in another room and he'll just keep on swimming all over the place. By the time I've had a shower and am heading out the door a rather boring seeming fish is in the same spot I see him in every day all day long

Well if you want them to make noise just take him out of the water for a few secs and you should hear him grunt, but not all raphaels grunt though, my stripped one does but the spotted one doesnt.

Oh, they dont like swim around. They prefer to forage on the floor and take over the cichlids nests or something, eat algae off the wood.

I wish they wld swim and make those famous noises of theirs

My Raphael hides for weeks at a time, hiding up underneath this coliseum that I have. The first one I owned disapearred for several months. I found him hiding in the very same coliseum. He had almost doubled in size. Very cool fish IMO.

I wld love for some noise to come out of my aquarium

I have two large pieces of bogwood in the aquarium and a large rock with holes, so the cats went in and found homes instantly.

They came from a bare bottom aquarium where the lights were on throughout the day and I think that's the reason they are this social.

They do stick to coming out early in the morning and later in the evening, but I see them everyday, twice a day

Anybody owns this fish? I am planning to get one to keep in my SA Cichlids tank. Here is a link to a picture of this fish:

My cats are awfully wierd. They dont mind coming out early in the morning. I saw one today evening as well. I guess the reason is that the tank lights are not working and its quite dark in there.

Today at 7:30 am I put in a sinking wafer for the cat to eat and while the little cat was struggling with it, Baba, my 6 inch Convict male stole it from the cat and put it in a corner. Then he spent the better part of an hour holding the wafer in his mouth banging it against rocks trying to break it

They probably won't come out to eat in the daytime, so it’s best to dump their food in just before the lights go out at night or when they’ve already been turned off. Otherwise the tankmates will steal most of the food.

Those catfish are definitely pretty cool, just don’t ever try to catch them with a net or pick one up with your hands.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
