well, that was a bit of a suprise

I was just feeding the fish, and because about half my fish hide (unless there is food around ), i always watch them at feeding time well, 2day i got a bit of a suprise My Zipper/zodiac Loach was clicking when eating his bottom feeder tablet he has never done that b4. the first time he did it, he was just in front of the glass, so i thought it was a pebble hitting the glass. but the second and 3rd time, he was in the middle of the tank, and there were no ither fish by the front glass. the other thing that mode me sure it was him was it only happened when he was eating. so i know it was the Zipper loach. the clicking was very easily heard as well. I'v never heard anything like it. so, thats my excitememnt for the week anyone else heard their fish actually make a noise?

I've heard about the pakistani loach making clicking noises when it gets excited ie breeding, treats, ect. So i guess it is possible that other loaches can click to.

My fish talk to me in my dreams. But thats all. Thats pretty cool though, I wish my fish talked! You should try to get a recording of it, it would be a really cool thing to remember him by in years when he passes on.

Clown loaches also commonly click when they eat. I'm used to it now but it really impresses visitors!

There are many commonly available fish that can make noise when they want to:

Loaches - Click when eating or during the night.

Plecos - Raspy grunting sound when handled.

Doradids - Same as above.

Corys - Rather high-pitched squeaking when handled.

Snakeskin gouramis (and probably others) - Loud popping noise made by forcing bubbles through gills.

These are just the ones I have experienced personally, and there are probably manny other "talking" fish.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
