I saw the same ad and i posted a forum about it to. In order to get the color in the fish they inject them with a dye. It is a very cruel practice!

I tried to find someplace where I could contact an adminstrator or moderator at aquabid and couldn't. Instead I posted a message on one of there forums. Didn't know what else to do. If you want to take a look at it, or comment it is on the suggestions forum.

I wouldn't ever imagin giving an infant a tattoo, so why would someone give a fish a tattoo, neither are able to say, yes, I want one, or no I don't]:|Idiots, yes, that is what they are idiots]:|

Arrgh, how cruel!! I read somewhere that the equivalent of a needle to a fish would be like us getting stabbed with a pencil. And almost all of them die of cancer from the dye, too. If they do live, the dye wears off anyway... so, the guy's an idiot putting such a price tag on one dyed, doomed fish.

The local Big Al's here started selling those about 18 months ago...they are also selling dyed non-albino corys.

Is fish dyeing very prevalent in North America? I can't say I've ever physically (off the net) seen a dyed fish here in NZ.. I don't think people would tolerate it very well (thankfully).

Its very prevalent in Singapore, etc....and unfortunately, far too many larger North American fish retailers have decided that they will sell well and they thereby create a market for them.

Supply and demand, I guess. :-( Its pretty sick the way they try to imply that it's safe.
