They're pretty hardy fish, and pretty nice looking. They are peaceful, active, fun, the whole nine yards. These cories don't get too large either, so you should be fine with a good shoal of them in there. Personally, I'd go with eight. Not only will they be happier in a larger group than the six you were thinking of, they'll be less skittish as well. Corydoras trilineatus cats seem to be a little less brave than other cories, and will flee from just about anything if kept in too-small groups.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I have 4 c. Trilineatus in my 42g tank and they're not shy at all. They're always busy exploring and during feeding time they would fiercely protect their shrimp pellets from curious above-bottom tankmates. Love watching them, such a great fish!

I use regular 3mm gravel in mine and they do fine, but they probably prefer sand (or 1mm gravel) so they can dig for food (especially when you feed them live worms). It's awesome to watch them do that! I'm using 1mm gravel for 2 new cory tanks I'm setting up for that reason.
