How many bottom feeders is too many for a 29 gallon tank?

Currently it contains

8 pristella tetras
5 peppered corydoras
3 ottos

I got the ottos last week and bought the three remaining ones in the store. I had wanted more, and they told me that they were getting more in next week. I went back yesterday and found that they not only had more ottos, they had clown plecos too. Would it be too much to add a clown pleco to that tank, either with several more ottos or just the three?

Since ottos don't really count as bottom feeders, I'd say that you're okay to add more of them and a clown pleco. Otocinclus spend their time all over their environment and don't hang around the bottom much.

Even if you do count the ottos, you aren't overstocked with catfish. I have eighteen cats in my twenty-nine gallon tank, and I think there are one or two folks around here that have more. Just remember that if you get a clown pleco, you'll want to have some driftwood for it to munch on.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

idk about the pleco, but if u were going to add some more ottos, i dont think u would have to many bottom guys, b/c like nick said, they kinda dont stay on the ground so with wont take up to much room.

Thanks I think I will go with a couple more ottos and the pleco, then. I was mainly worried about the corys bothering the pleco, since I've heard they can be a little territorial, but I've got plenty of plants and driftwood so I think there should be plenty of hiding places.

And I must say, those ottos do quite a good job with the algae...

Your Peppered Corydoras will be fine with the Pleco & the Otto's will also be quite happy in a school. You can also add 1 more Corydoras to make them a school of 6.
Don't forget the Driftwood for your Clown.

Your cories aren't territorial at all, and will get along just fine with the plec.
