Yesterday, I went to my lfs, intending to buy 3 panda cories. The store just happened to be out, but I saw some others that caught my eye, labeled as "corydoras schwartzi." I looked them up on the web, and my little cats are definitely not schwartz's cories. They don't look like any of the ones in the site profiles, either. Does anybody have an idea as to what they might be?

here are some photos

EDIT: Sorry about the quality of the pics, the cories will just not stop moving, as is natural.
I will try to get some better pictures.

Almost looks like trilineatus to me but it's really hard for me to tell from the pics.

I went and looked up all the corydoras species on planetcatfish, and the closest I could find to a match was corydoras xinguenisis. Here is a pic of the cat:

I thought it might be jullii, but the store had those for sale as well, and they do look somewhat different than mine. My cories have no markings at all on their dorsal fin or tail. I wish I could get a super close-up, but my camera won't focus on anything less than six inches away.

EDIT: To answer the question below, one of the cories I have is young, and maybe an inch long. The other two are about two inches, and the store said they didn't get much bigger. I would assume that they are either very fast growers, or they already have their adult coloring. Does anyone think they might be the xinguenisis cory?

Hmm, how big are they? Not that I have much of an idea, but maybe if they are younger, they don't have their full coloration yet? If that's possible...?

I have a Juhli, it's a little over an inch long. It has distinctive markings and doesn't really look like that to me.

Now I am curious as well...!

Very cool though..
i'd snatch those up too.

Of course..the store's "Julii" cories.. could be C. Trilineatus..
that happens all the time.

I don't think they mislabled the julii, they looked like real julii cories. I really think they're c. xinguensis now, and those are pretty rare! I can't wait to get the other three...

C. julii is not commercially imported (except by one German company), so you won't find any on American markets. The ones at your store are C. trilineatus.

But that's besides the point. Your new corys are not C. julii, as the markings are not bold enough and there is no black blotch on the dorsal fin. C. xinguensis still seems like the best choice, and they could possibly be a different subspecies if they look different from most of the other pictures.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
