Has anyone kept upside down catfish? I am thinking of some for my 9 gallon tank. I have 4 guppies 2 platies 2 bristle nose catfish. In January I am getting a 20 gallon tank, with 2 golden gouramis, 2 lace gouramis, another upside down catfish, maybe 2 peppered corys, maybe a swordtail, 4 or 5 leopard danios. After I have cycled and started stocking that tank, I will transfer the upside down catfish to that tank. Does anyone have any tips on those catfish or the tank I am thinking of?
I appreciate it a lot!

Thanks,
Labrapup

udc's are a great fish - they are good looking, hardy imo, and are definately a little more intelligent than the cory family (eg locating food, avoiding capture etc). however, they are mostly nocturnal, like a lot of cover, and can go days without being seen while the lights are on. i have no idea what gallons are, but your tanks sound smallish? the smallest i've had them in is a three-footer, and they tore around in there all night - they love swimming room. so, as far as a species, they rock, but i don't know how they'll go in yr tank.

as mentioned above, USD syno are a beautiful fish.
they prefer to be in a group of 4-6, so make sure you have room in your tank. it sounds like you might be overstocking your tank a wee bit...just watch that. try searching up some profiles on USD syno and do some of your own research as well

good luck

As tank stated, they are preferrably shoaling fish, though they can be kept alone or in trios/pairs without any ill effect. A nine gallon is pushing it, IMO, as they are fairly active.

for a 9g that is overpushing it IMO, but if you do get that 20g, go for it

I thought they got up to 4in. each. There's no way a school of them would fit
