Unfortunately, many Botia species haven't been successfully bred in captivity. It is apparently very difficult to replicate the conditions they need to spawn, as hatching the eggs and raising the fry is supposed to be the easy part. I read an article (written by a successful loach breeder) which stated that her loaches often spawned after being exposed to a large temperature drop. She put her loaches in an outdoor pond, and they spawned! Perhaps potential B. sidthimunki breeders should look into a similar approach.

Oh, and I'll dig up the article later and post what it says, word-for-word on loach breeding.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

The red tailed black shark is extinct???? Oh my better get Larz a mate (larz is a girl shark named her before I knew)

Do you have pics of the botia?? My friend takes care of my botia that I had no room for, he is still mine I can have him when I have room, when I get into our new house. Mine is a botia modesta, the name is ringo.

If this fish is endangered, I would not mind to do some reasearch to see how to breed them (if its possible of course) and maybe give it a shot. Give the little guys some lasting hope.

Thanks for letting me know, for one.
