I got 2 albino corys 6 months ago. They were much the same size at the time but recently one has gotten much bigger and has a massive belly. I'm relatively new to having an Aquarium so am I to assume that the larger Cory is preggers or is it a sign of something wrong?

I have a 54 gal glass corner tank with some live plants, driftwood, rocks and

2 Turquoise rainbows,
2 crimson spotted rainbows,
one golden zebra loach,
6 cardinal tetras
1 powder blue dwarf gourami
2 albino corys

They all live quite peacefully and apart from my concern about my oversized cory they all look healthy and happy.

If the fish is acting normal, it mostly likely that it is just a female filled with eggs. If you do a water change, she should lay them all over the tank during the night.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The exact same thing happened to me with some spotted Cory's. I think they are fatter because they are females. I have had mine well over a year now and she has remained very fat but is still very healthy and eats well. We call her the big fat mamma lol coz all the other corys all seem to jump on her and try to get her to play with them. They all seem to see her as there mother I think.

If she's acting & eating normal, she may be full of eggs, do a water change with cooler water & she will lay the eggs at night or early morning.

As it's been said, she's probably just full of eggsdo a water change, feed some nummies and wait for the eggs Oh and noone else has mentioned it, but I willyou really need more than just 2 corries, try getting another 4-6 at least, you'll find the more you have the merrier they will beheidi

I just added 2 Ottocincli so once they've settled in I may add a couple more albino corys. Its a big and well filtered tank but I'm mindful of over populating it.

How big is the tank? I don't think adding a couple more corries will run the chance of overstocking itand they really will enjoy each other...then again it isn't a sure fire way to get her to drop the fryGoodness knows Big Momma has enough gentlemen callers, and she hasn't dropped

You could easily add a few more albino corys if you wanted to. Chances are some of them will be males and they will encourage her to lay the eggs.

Does she look like [link=this]http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/photos/gallery.asp?id=bronzecat_profile&page=4B234275486A35E735CD819BA5499E65AA5B97B183ED3D8A988BA00D9036" style="COLOR: #FFFFFF[/link]? That's one of my albino corys when she was filled with eggs. They take on a sort of boxy look.

Yep (apart from the color of course )

I think I have a cardinal tetra who is preggers and a turqoise rainbow who may be too. Certainly they have all gotten a lot "bigger" in the last couple of weeks.

I'll have to stop playing Barry White in front of the tank.
