I want a Bristlenose real bad, and we dont get them here. A friend is going to the US. I need to kno, what are his chances of bringing back a Bristlenose pleco for me. Would this be illegal, and if yes, if he is caught at the US airport, will the fish be killed? I dont think he will be caught at the Indian airport, and even if he is, there is a very good chance, they will let him go with the fish.

CLOWNY now with that said, I don't know how much stock they would put in him taking it out of the US. I know when you go (or well when you used to) to Mexico there wasn't a check of what you were taking with you, but when coming in they would check. I would wonder about the flight and how he would get it on the plane and all personally. And when it gets to you exactly how the authorities would except it I don't know for sure, but I know some things can come with a very high fine and some would include prison time had a couple of students whose parents were in prison for smuggling birds into the states Think about it, before you do it, I'd hate to see you or your buddy go to prison because you really need a bn...heidi

along time ago my aunt imported around 2000 koi's and 100 discus from china, and there was alot of problems. the fishes were sent to quartine, and when they arrived most if not all were dead. there are other ways. aquabid, or ordering fish from the internet, and the sellers who will ship over seas, are your best chance.

Well it isn't smuggling as it is not illegal to export Bristlenose catfish from the United States. Now the hard part is calling the airline your friend plans on taking back to India and asking them what he needs to do with the fish. I have flown several times with fish and they almost didn't let me hand carry some bristlenoses to Nebraska once because the fish in the bag wouldn't move for the dang TSA. So of course why would I want to carry a dead fish. I had to open the bag and let him physically TOUCH my fish before it moved and they felt secure that I was just carrying a live fish with me and let me go with it.

Goodluck,

Audra

edit: well it is of course smuggling if it is illegal to import bristlenose to India. Look for your illegal import list. If it is not there then there is no reason at all your friend cannot do that for you, just might be some extra paperwork.

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.
