![]() | Water changes and baby Pandas? |
eminer1254![]() Fingerling Posts: 48 Kudos: 54 Votes: 0 Registered: 14-Apr-2005 ![]() ![]() | I need to make a big water change 30-50%. It's been a long time since the last one. I was having a problem stabilizing the bio-filter. Everything is good now, and it's time to change the water. However, I have baby Pandas (estimated close to 6 weeks) in my 46gl bowfront. They've been living in this water (execpt for topping the takn off a few time) all their lives. Would a large water change have any adverse affect on the babies? Thanks, Eric |

I spent much of my time in the past year doing fifties per week, attempting to induce a panaque spawn which never happened. Following suit, I would pull out young pandas and aeneus every 3 months or so without any trouble. I would assume that to reach 1", they were probably quite happy, water changes or not. I've discovered that baby Pandas under 20 weeks of age are very sensitive to accidental dechlorinator overdoses the hard way. Also, I'd make the changes trickle-type changes until they're at least 10 weeks old just to be extra safe. Also, make sure the water is as closely temperature matched as you can get it. ![]() |

I thusly always overdose on the dechlor by a slight amount, as said chemical is rendered harmless in water. Last edited by Cup_of_Lifenoodles at 03-Aug-2005 07:50 |
