So I went in there a couple days ago to pick them up, and someone had sold them to another person!!! Didnt even know that the "Brochis On Hold" meant the emerald catfish! So, I was pretty cheesed off having already paid for them, so they gave me a striped raphael cat instead, and a group of ghost shrimp to make up for it. Well, I am super happy with this Raphael Cat! The girl at the LFS said she has 2 of them and rarely sees them, well mine comes out every single night for the snail jello feast! Just loves the stuff (well all the fish do its crazy). Anyway, he or she is gorgeous. I am wondering though, do they prefer to be kept singly or in a pair or groups? I have tons of hiding places and the tank (75g) is heavily planted. I have read they acheive 6.7 inches on average, according to Planet Catfish, but the girl at the LFS said her striped raphael is 9 and a half inches! I wonder if she is exaggerating, or how big these guys actually get. I know there is a chance they may eat small fish, but there is no small fish left in the tank, except for the large group of danios, but they rarely venture to the bottom. So anyway, just really looking for personal experience with this fish, Ive read up on them and all that, but you know, personal experience just has that little something more. Thanks! I used to have one myself, only it was a spotted raphael, but they basically have the exact same requirements as striped raphaels. from what i have read, it doesn't really matter whether you keep them singly or in groups. I kept mine alone, although it probably wouldnt hurt if you got a couple more. Striped Raphaels on average do grow to around 6-7 inches, although there are those rare occasions where they grow 10+ inches! Just look at Optimist's striped raphael, which can be seen in this thread- http://fishprofiles.com/files/threads/32227.1.htm?15# |
