Poor Eeyore died yesterday. I know it was him because the newbies were much smaller than him/her? I was so upset but atleast he had friends for a little while.

Remember, Jefferysgirl, pay scrupulous attention to cleanliness in your Panda aquarium and everything else will fall into place. Some people might consider my particular maintenance régime (50% water changes and deep gravel vacs twice per week) to be somewhat over-zealous, but the results speak for themselves - Mata Hari and the boys have now spawned 76 times since May 5th,2003.

Well I named him eeyore for 2 reasons
1)he seemed so lonely by himself
2)I love eeyore as much as my fish

I have a total of 6 pandas in a 20 gallons long with 5 white cloud minnows and the 5 female guppies that survived my limited knowledge of fry rearing. there are a bunch of ghost shrimp. not sure how many at this point but my cory's like to chase them around the tank.
I have my 4 bronze corys in a 10 gallon with some neon tetras. Both tanks have lots of plants and natural gravel. Maybe one day i'll get around to taking some pictures.

Congratulations Jefferysgirl. Welcome to the Panda Nut Club

How many did you get? If you have 8 or more, they'll be a complete riot. Just like mine.

And I see you too have started naming your Pandas. They get to you like that

I GOT PANDAS!!!! YAY! my LFS special ordered about 30 panda corys because i came in atleast once a week asking if they had found any. they know me as the panda girl. when i walked in last weekend they all just pointed to the back row. They had separated out about 10 that were labeled not for sale so that there would be some when i came back!!! I love those guys! they think i'm totally hilarious. My original panda(eeyore) is so happy now that he has buddies. they were all over the place immediately. He even swam up to the side of the bag as i floated them for a while. They were so funny when i put in frozen bloodworms. I love these little guys. My boyfriend thinks i'm completely insane about my fish and my collection of 80's rainbow brite toys. He said he was going to commit me if i bought any more fish. I spent the last money that i had on my fish and a collie for my grandad!I really am insane! Oh well!I got pandas and thats all that matters

i recently caught my panda playing with my 3 bronze cories. it was late probabrly 4AM and i looked in on my way to the bathroom. they were having a great time going up and down the glass. i wonder why he doesn't associate with them during the day? I am on the prowl for pandas. it doesn't matter where i am, when i find them i am going to buy every one they have. (usually only 3-4) I think they are the cutests fish in my tank! i loved watching them play tag and bouncing on each other!I miss them

You and me both, well almost ...

What I'd love to do is create a giant version of the Panda Fun Palace™ with about 40 of everything that's in there now. I reckon that a 6ft aquarium would be up to the task somehow if I only had the space ... anyway, let 40 Pandas loose together in one aquarium, and boy would the sparks fly, it really would be an aquarium version of the computer game Lemmings then ... only played at warp speed

I'm right outside of freaking Chicago, and I STILL have troubles finding pandas. I've got four of them (bought three, two died mysteriously, bought the last three the store had) and let me tell you, there's even a big difference between having three and four pandas... I'd SO get more if I could find them anywhere. Even though I ... don't have... you know... money.

However, they seem quite happy in a tankful of trilines and agassizii (four trilines, one lone agassizii I saved from insanity amidst tiger barbs in the LFS ). I've dubbed the agassizii "daddy" because he's the biggest cory in the tank, and the lil pandas like to crowd around him. I've seen a panda sharing a terracotta half-pot cave with a triline and everyone running into each other at random. Even when I added my lone panda to the tank with the other cories - before getting the new pandas - he perked up immediately. Now my bashful trilines are coming out of their shells and following the pandas' examples.

In short, if you're anywhere near me and can't find more pandas, my 100 acre gang wouldn't mind a Kanga or Roo. Eeyore is the original and still spends time on his own... Tigger has a penchant for playing leapfrog and bounding on top of his buddies... Pooh Bear is a bit clueless, but friendly to everyone, and Piglet is shy and generally hides behind the bigger cories in the tank.

However, I sincerely hope that you can find pandas of your own, simply because they are a complete RIOT! I can't imagine NOT having them in my tank. If I had the money and space, I'd get them a tank of their own and stock it with nothing but pandas.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

I have recently had a major aquarium meltdown. My heater malfunctioned and overheated the tank. Amazingly 1 panda cory and 2 clown loaches survived along with a snail and 2 ghost shrimp. I was wondering what might be the best setup for them. I have a 20 gallon aquarium with a cave a couple of plastic plants and some Elodea (anachris) and another plant that i don't know what it is. I would really like to get some sand instead of gravel as i know it is easier on the cory's little whisker things (not sure what they are called). Any advice that could be given as to plant types and names, brands of sand or other substrate, food brands/types, etc. I really want to make the aquarium as comfy as possible. I am going to add some more pandas as soon as the LFS gets more in. What is a good group size?

My pandas are absolutely mad and I only have 3. They are going in with my 3 schwartzis tomorrow though. The schwartzis are pretty rewarding too. I saw one swim right across the middle of the tank the other day!

The moment you can obtain some more Pandas Jefferysgirl, do so ... even if you have to live off bread and water for a month to do it! Because once he's got 5 or 6 playmates, he'll come alive again. Pandas are among the most avowedly social of the Corydoras, and seem to need the psychological security of members of their own species more than many other Corydoras species do. All Corys need companions of their own kind to a certain extent, but with Pandas it's practically obligatory.
