What should i feed BN fry???? | |
desiredusername Enthusiast Posts: 182 Kudos: 99 Votes: 36 Registered: 26-Sep-2006 | My trio of BNs have bred for the second time, and this time i saved around 50-60 fry. They are in a floating tank thing, in my 55g. I put in some algae wafer last night and it was gone this morning, but i think my adult BNs sucked the food through the slits at the bottom of the container. What should i feed them??? How fast do they grow?? |

When I was breeding BNs I found the babies fared much better being put in a tank large enough to give them a little room but small enough that they didn't have to exert much energy to find food. When very young the mortality rate seems to be higher if they have to search more for food, expending more energy then they are taking in. Also Baby BNs should be fed a higher amount of protein than adults. When moving them use the same water from the main tank to fill the smaller tank. Do this because they seem to be very sensitive to any changes in water chemistry no matter how small, so keeping the change to a minimum again helps lessen the mortality rate. If you don't have space to raise fry you certainly don't have space for 50 full grown BN's so to me it just seems selfish to breed fish just to breed them. Just my 2 cents take it for what its worth! Justin Colts Fan For Life 30g platy tank: 2 sunburst wag platys, 2 redtailed white calico platys, 2 red wag platys, 1 fry(not sure who it belongs to), 1 Golden CAE. Bettas:1 VT male |
