I feed my plecs and clown loaches cucumber by putting it in a nut (think: nuts and bolts). The nut is heavy enough to sink and there is a hole in it to slip in a small cucumber chunk. Just remember to remove everything after a while.........you do not want rotting veggies in the bottom or your tank.

My plecos LOVE cucumbers! My technique is to cut a whole cuc & just cut around the seeds(they get stuck in my filter & make a mess). The time a wake the next morning-the cuc is GONE! My rubbermouth pleco does not bother w/ the cuc.
I also have added lettuce & spinach. I have not tried broccoli before but does it really have to be Frozen?? I think they would like that too. I have tried carrots with no reaction, simply ignored it. Hope this helps...

I am still to try cucumber on my pleco, but I think I will soon. That is an awesome looking pleco and a lovely pic. I dont understand how people can get plants to grow in a clown tank. My clowns wait for me to put in a plant, and they uproot it and shred it to peices.

I never tried orange. Mine like fresh lettuce and spinach, and are very fond of frozen broccoli.

My BNs both love cucumber. The loaches do too but the female plec won't let them near it

I put this piece in the tank ~4 hours ago:

Nice plec Krige ... wish I had the space for something like that

But then if I did, I'd probably devote it to a Panda Cory madhouse with 50 of them in a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft

Once I had my Panda madhouse, then I'd think about something like this

I was just wondering if my common pleco would eat cucumber? I know that they love zuchini and so forth but I have a cucumber in my fridge that is going to waste and if it was a source of food for the plec than I'd feed it to him.

at petsmart would give our goldfish and plecos a salad once every week that has cucumbers, lettuce, and oranges.

the salad we put in the place tank is always gone by the end of the day. so your pleco should eat it

goodluck

I hear a lot of ppl say that their plecs love them. I have a. l187b. striped rubbernose pleco. He won't go near cukes or yucchini. try and see if he likes it. good luck. Great pic, btw. that plec is gorgeous, and the clowns are too

Would someone explain to me about the cucumbers. I remember reading somewhere not to feed cucumbers because the seeds can be poisonious to some fish. So I have been avoiding feeding cucumbers and sticking to zuchinni and other squash for my bristle nose plecos. Is this some false information?

Blang, if you soak it in hot water and soften or put in micro for 10 secs or so he may clue onto it faster.

You are on the right track though (particularly with the feeding overnight thing)

Some kids are a bit picky... keep plugging away.

btw mine like zucchini more than cucumber. Ignore lettuce unless it is blanched (soaked in hot tapwater).

Krige, AWESOME PIC
My bn has blotches on and I have been wondering if the mottling was normal. I can now see it is. Thx.

I just purchased a bn pleco a few days ago. I put a zuchini in the tank by taking a rubber band around the zuchini and attaching it to the bottom of a driftwood. He didn't touch it. The LFS said to try it every other night and eventually he will try it and love it.

The other days I drop a small piece of algae wafer.

Yea, my pleco eats it.

That pleco looks to be about 8" (judging by the size of that clown loach)

Most of them just love cucumber. My bristlenose pleco is a big fan of cucumber, in that he eats it whenever he gets the chance. I bet that your pleco will like it, too.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
