Hey folks,

I've been trying to decide what to do with my empty 29 gallon tank. One of the things I've been considering was to make a species only tank for breeding. As I have what I think are 3 staerbais cories, this would be the species. I do suspact the 3 cories I have aren't sterbais, but rather a very similar species, I think they're called harald schultz. Anyway, would you plunk down $20 a piece for a 3 or 4 more definately sterbais cories and see what happens? Or just go another way with the tank?

$20 US each for even F0 sterbais is a bit steep (although I would gladly pay $50 CDN for a trio of haraldschultzi)...I would expect more like $12-$15 US each for mature F0 sterbais.

[font color="#000080"]If your planning on breeding, then I guess I would.
But then again $20 US each is alot for a little fish. Well it's your money so it's really your decision.

For future reference:

Sterbai: round forehead, reticulated markings throughout

Harold Schultz's: sloped forehead, spotted markings in upper half of body

If you're sure that they're haroldschultzis, I'd buy 2-3 more. here, I could probably score one for 6ish bucks as they're shown as being 4 dollars straight from the wholesaler.

Also, C. sterbai specimens have brilliant orange pectoral fins.

I've seen sterbai cories for $16 apiece in a really expensive, so $20 isn't worth it. You will probably have another opportunity to buy these fish down the road.

However, a breeding tank sounds like a good idea! You could either keep and raise the fry, or sell them.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
