Well, I've been trying to attach pics and they are coming out awful. If this one doesn't work, I'm going to give up until I can get my Adobe PhotoShop elements working again. That was easiest.

Finally, got it to work!!!

Here's another atop a stone cave I added. That's what I love about these little guys - they are all over the strata, unlike many other cories which love the bottom.

Here's another - a shot of the 10 gal they are temporarily being housed in. I was lucky enough to have some Bio-Spira tucked away since there isn't any to be found. I dosed the tank today. I also added a clump of java moss from the tank they will eventually go to. There's 2 of the 5 by the right hand corner near the US quarter.

Southern Michigan, eh? Well, we do have a house near St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, so I certainly wouldn't mind stopping to look on the way! I doubt fish would like a trek back to Chicagoland, but it doesn't hurt to look, right? Whereabouts is this Pruess?

Here's the store website. My cories had no problems with 2 hours in the bag. They add pure oxygen to the bag and if in a cooler, you can certainly transport them over a longer period. I also highly recommend the plants. Some of the best stock I've seen is there - I mean nice and healthy.

Thanks to Wolfie8113, I finally got "mini-me", my lonely habrosus cory some tank mates. For those of you who recall the story, I spotted an unusual cory in a tank full of otos. The store-keeper didn't even notice him. I took him home and did some research, finally identifying the sweet li'l guy as a habrosus cory. I've been searching for some buddies for him ever since.

Here is a pic of "mini-me" that I added when I did the profile on habrosus cories with what I learned. Mini-Me Habrosus. One thing I disagree with in my own profile writing is the pH range. However, this came from books published by experts. Like many fish, they can be kept outside of the preferred range. My pH is up there around 7.7-7.8.

Lucky me that I just started my 2 week vacation and was planning on staying home to work around the house. Conveniently, Wolfie8113 who works at Pruess Pets just outside of Lansing, MI emailed me to let me know some came in there.

I took 5 home and they are now in a 10 gallon resting quietly.

I hope to add them to my 20 long in a week or two, but am considering a longer stay. They are much smaller than "mini-me" so I'm thinking of letting them grow a little before transferring.

What sweet fish . They are always so active, unlike some of the other cories.

I hope and pray they all make it through these first 72 hours without incident. I took 5 figuring one or two may not make it. If all do, then wonderful!

For anyone in Southern Michigan looking for a good fish store, I highly recommend Pruess. Their tanks were so healthy. I'm not use to going into fish stores without seeing the usual symptoms of disease and parasites. They quarantine there and use some good, common sense pracitices .

Diane

"Mini-Me" topped out at about 3/4 inch or nearly an inch (25.4 mm). He's beefier than these guys, but he was their size when I got him. From the info I've read on them, males typically remain under an inch with females growing slightly bigger than that.

It's now approaching 11pm and these guys all appear to have settled in. All are active with dorsal fins proudly extended as they explore their new temporary home. I had concerns with one that was lethargic and breathing heavy the remainder of yesterday, through the night and still this morning. However, as soon as food hit the water he was off and running. I'm now having a hard time telling which one it was and am hoping it was just shock.

I put a small piece of algae wafer in there. It stayed together pretty well and they snacked on it all day long. There are some tiny crumbs left which they continue to dine on. I didn't have the heart to pull it out as 2-3 cories at any one time were eating on it while the others napped their full bellies away. I want them to grow fast so I suppose this is one way to do it, but not daily.

Good stuff Cory_di! Thanks for the email and heads up on Pruess! I knew the name was familiar. I am planning a trip with another local Plantnut for some plants.

I love the Corydoras species (the smaller ones). Cute little devils. Hopefully all 5 will make it (odds are in their favour) and you'll have 6!

Hey kiddo - that link doesn't work.

Is it an actual image or is it a link to a webpage that has the image? If it is just a link to a webpage, just type this without the spaces before and after the address.

[ l i n k ]yourwebpage[ / l i n k ]

If it is an image from your PC, then that is a different story.
