I just bought a pair of YoYo loaches and they have been swimming all around the tank ranging from the top to the bottom and very active.

Is this normal ?

Yes, it is normal. But you will want to get more then two. Loaches like the company of other loaches of their species and I would never consider having them unless I could provide a group of at least 6 or more.

No, most fish aren't as active as loaches. I agree with John, loaches do much better in groups. I suggest adding at least two more, depending on the size of your tank. How big is it, and what other fish are in there?

Are you talking about your yoyos?? No offense but i wouldnt get worried if my fish were swimming around the tank. Even if they are loaches, eels w/e.

Yoyos are very playful and active but do not harm other fishes

Great to watch and they sleep in the most unusual places and in the most unusual ways - very often I knock mine to see if they have DIED-LOL

I did the same with mine the other day, he was sleeping and thought he was dead.

He just sitting there swaying back and forth and i was like o crap , i drove an hour away and payed 6 bucks for him to die 1 day after the guarentee was up. I knocked the class and whoa was it a relief when he started darting around the tank lol

Yoyos are just like clown loaches, very very active. Very silly too and love to play dead by lying on their backs or on the side.

Clowns and Yoyos are two of the more active loaches, so dont worry, yours are doing just fine.

Sounds like the ones I had. Very normal and I had just 2 for a year before I sold them and they were fine as a pair.

Just another comment about keeping numbers of YoYos: I have had 1 YoYo for over a year. I usually only saw his face sticking out of his favorite cave. I've been looking for more ever since.

Finally, a couple of weeks ago the local PetsMart got some in at $2.99 each! I bought six and added them to the tank with the existing one. He now cruises the tank with the others all day long even though he's twice as long and twice as thick as any of the rest of them.

Keep them in numbers! They're active, beautiful, and in my experience don't really bother other fish (though I understand some individuals can be nippy).
