I have 3 yo yo's in my 55 gallon. A couple of days ago I saw one yo yo off to the side with another? He was so faded you could not read yo yo on him. He was dancing around the other swimming in circles (with quick jerks). The other also seemed to enjoy it. I look this morning and the one that was the center of faded yo yo's attention now has a big belly.. Do you think they were spawning or what? The faded one now has all of his coloring back but the swelled one is kind of in its own territory near a clay pot in the corner. These fish are so silly its hard to say. I only saw one post regarding this and they claimed to have similar results without any evidence of egg laying. Anyone else observed this kind of behavior?

Nah, doesn't sound like they were spawning. There would be eggs laid in a high current area if they had been doing the mating thing. Check out [link=this]http://www.4f.net/nph-surfer.cgi/011110A/http/fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Bottom%20Feeder%20Frenzy/58877.html?200505061002" style="COLOR: #808080[/link] thread for more information about loach breeding and spawning.

It's a rare thing indeed to have loaches spawn in captivity, and kudos to anyone who can accomplish this!

if they were spawning, i will give you a million dollars.

It sounds like to me that they were fighting over food, and one of them stole all of it (the one with the big belly)

Mine did exactly this. Lame to say the least.. These little guys do all sort of weird antics. I knew it was rare to breed them. I have also read that the yo yo lays its eggs in their substrate. Is that true so I know what to look for just in case? I may want to collect that million dollars rofl..

I have 2m and 2f and I've seen spawning behavior a few times but nothing has come of it. I've always heard loaches prefer caves such as pvc pipe to spawn in.
