How big is the loach and how big are the otos? If the oto is big enough to be sold in a retail store, it should be big enough not to be eaten. They are covered in bony plates and spines, so even most large fish won't bother eating them.

the yoyo loach is over 4 inches. the smallest of the oto's is maybe three quarters of an inch. I bought six oto's to put in two tanks, but I think I might leave them all in the ten gallon with my dwarf gouramis until there a little bigger.

They should be fine with the loach, but it won't do any harm at all to grow them out a bit if you feel more comfortable with it.

well, I've unfortunately lost four of the six ottos, not to other fish... They just keep dropping dead. Aquarium conditions are good,no ammonioa nitrates or nitrites, temp 80deg. Just weak fish maybe??

Ottos are famous for just dropping dead. It could be from differences in the water you got them from to your water. How did you acclimate them?
