Are you talking about some bristlenose (Ancistrus sp.) species or the zebra pleco (Hypancistrus zebra)? I have never heard of anything called a "zebra bristlenose".

Zebra plecos are small, carnivorous plecos that bear no resemblance to any Ancistrus species. They are illegal in Australia, so if you can find one, expect to pay $1000 (if not more).

There was a recent ban on their export from the wild, and so that has made prices even in the US go up to $170 each, when they used to be able to be purchased for $60.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Actually, morphologically, the two genuses are fairly similar. However, they differ greatly in behavioral and dietary aspects: hypancistrus prefer friut and protein, while ancistrus enjoy algal matter and detritus. As was stated above, zebras are illgeal to import into aus., thus specimens will AT LEAST be in the upper three digits, if not higher (heck, if an albino bichir can sell for a thousand...).

Gee,

Why is it that the nice fish or unusual fish aren't available

:#(

Like some loaches, well the only loach importable is the Clown loach. I was wanting some Zebra loaches and Yoyo loaches as well.

2 strikes now. Not going to look anymore. Too depressed

About the zebra plecos: I have seen them online from $115 all the way to $250, you just have to search a lot for them!

Now where there are illegal I'm not sure... I live in the US
