I'm dreaming again...
Are there any stocking rules for Zebra Plecos? Can you follow the surface-area or inch per gallon rule with these?

Yeah, if you want to kill $60 ... I wouldn't put one in less than a 30 gal. They're a good-sized fish. But, I bet you could fit 6 in there if it was a species tank.

I know, trust me, if I had to money to buy some Zebra Plecos, I'd atleast get a 55 gallon and try and get a breeding colony
They get max 3" right?
What else can go with Zebra Plecs? I don't know of any fish that can tolerate a temp of 79-85F and lots and lots of current... The only one I can think of is Ghost Catfish, since they like lots of current, but I dunno if they could handle the heat.
According to Perky you could put 7 in a 55 gallon with 2.5 gallons to spare (7.5 times 7 = 52.5), and only 4 in a 30 gallon.

but that rule would start from like a 15g or something.
sources say they get from 2''-4''.....so id go with 3'' to keep the peace
I wouldn't put any other fish with them....just because they look kool by themselves and they like to have caves all to themselves

Whereabouts in Canada are you? In Edmonton Alberta, there is a chap that is famous for breeding thousands of zebra plecos, and he is giving a talk on husbandry and breeding at the speaker-day the Aquarium Club there is holding at the end of March.

I'd feel pretty comfterable having one live in a 20-30 gallon tank by itself. I'd leave it alone though just so it doesnt have to compete for food and what not. I wouldnt want my $100 Pleco to die.

I'm way over in Ontario, near the nations' capital (Ottawa).
I would get 7 in a 55 with nothing else. If 2 paired up, they'd go in a 15-20 gallon right away...
I also would keep it a species tank but I was wondering if anything can go with Zebra Pleco tank conditions.

Here are the profiles from this site for:

Glass Catfish
Care: Feed good quality flakes. Strong filtration and an open swimming space edged with plants is recommended.
pH: 6.5 - 7.8
Temperature: 22C - 27C
(72F - 81F)

Zebra Plecos
Care: The Zebra Pleco is not a herbivore and will not eat algae. Feed foods such as frozen blood worms and brine shrimp. A rocky aquascape much like an african cichlid tank. Caves and hiding places are recommended.
pH: 6.0 - 7.5
Temperature: 23C - 27C
(73F - 81F)

According to this, they can be kept together pH-wise, temperature-wise and basically tank aquascape-wise...
That would be a pretty cool tank, Zebra Plecs on the bottom and some Glass Cats.

I was looking at when he said the end of March and wondering if it was next march, which is a long time. At least the search button is working well.
