how big do these things really grow? my kids begged me to purchase 2 about 3 months ago. one is a runt, he is still about 1.5", while the other is up to about 2.5" all the info i have found on them agree on feeding habits (ravenous), temperment, and so on. but every almost every source of info varies on mature size.

i would imagine these live for several years. at the present, their home is drastically understocked, and quite large (180 gallons). i normally research new fish purchases for several weeks prior to purchase, but i caved in to my kids pleas. if anyone has owned one for awhile- please tell me their mature size.
