Lately iv been doing some pretty heavey research on a variety of things related to aquariums. One thing i came upon on a website, it was about clownloaches, this guy was saying he tends to buy the clowns with the regular 3 striped pattern and nice intense orange bodies with black stripes. I believe in this 100%. I found something he said though that i did not agree on all the way. He said that you should never buy fish that are mutated(unique sometimes). This brought me back a memory from last winter when i was in a local fish store. I saw a clownloach with 4 STRIPES. Isnt that amazing?! At least i thought it was. Comments please.

Color morphs are rarely harmful to the fish or the symptom (or cause) of disease and ill health, so I don't see any problem picking out the "unique" fish in a group. I'd like to know his reasons, though.

If a fish's 'mutation' is caused by a company trying to make money, then the person is right. Don't buy the fish. If it is just one of nature's anomalies, then purchasing a unique fish is not wrong. Sometimes these things happen, as can be seen in albino animals, or just as a freak of nature.

Nope, the 4 striped clown was in a group with all normal 3 striped clowns.

If I were you then, I would have bought this unique clown as long as it was healthy looking.

I would have bought it exept that it was below 30 degrees out, the shop does not supply paper bags, and most of all, my tank was not cycled yet.
