It has community fish. A couple Gourami, 10 cardinal tetras, 6 rasboras, 2 platys, 6 bronze corys, and 1 common pleco. It also has brown algie. I know the pleco will eventually outgrow my tank, plus he can't really keep up with the algie load alone anyway (well, he probably COULD, but he likes to eat the fish food whenever possible). So I'm looking for what else I could get. I have NO real plants, or wood in my tank. I was leaning toward a couple bristle nose, as they don't get to big. But I've read they (like my pleco) prefer fish food to algie. Also that they need some real wood to thrive. Is there any fish that just LOVES algie and won't outgrow my tank, or pick on my little cardinals and rasboras? thanks! -Dennis |

Also, two male plecos in the same tank will sometimes pester each other, so if you were to by chance end up with two males, you might see a few problems. One of the best algae-eating fish hands down is the otocinclus. These little guys only grow to an inch and a half or so, and are algae-eating machines. For your tank, I would suggest getting six or more. Here is a site with plenty of information about them:[link=http://www.otocinclus.com/]http://www.otocinclus.com/" style="COLOR: #808080[/link] |

True not false. They can be identifed by 3 things: No Stripe other than a single Black one. Scales on back seem to form a diamond pattern if looked at in the right light, and the mouth is distinctfully a sucker mouth. These fish when seen in stores will also group together or shoal. False Siamese Algae eaters will not, or will be seen showing aggression, and Flying Foxes have distinctive Whiskers Around a mouth that most resembles the mouth of a Queen or Zebra Loach or other loaches of the Botia Species. Trippy. Anyway, Siamese algae eaters actually do not have sucker mouths, like some of their relatives do. If it has a sucker mouth, then it's not a SAE. This species will also have a pair of forward-facing barbels in front of the mouth. ![]() Last edited by Cory Addict at 01-Oct-2004 20:28[/font] ![]() I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

I bought 4 ottos, and one passed within one day. It's been about 3 days now, and the other 3 are doing fine. I will eventually add more, but for now, they have to share the algie with the pleco. They are fun to watch, but only 2 of them seem to be cleaning. The third one spends all day schooling with the rasboras! Which is REALLY fun to watch! ![]() -Dennis |

I'm thinking of getting one to help out with the stupid hair algae my tank is producing and I want to make sure. |
