i am gettin a pair of 2" black ghost knives. i have a 2'*1'*1' tank. could i keep them in that temporarily. they will have no other tankmates. but there's lotta hiding place. how soon would i need a bigger tank.

I woul try to get it upgraded as soon as possible. I would say around 2 months.

If I calculate your volume correctly then you have “only” a 15G tank, right?

Without knowing Apteronotus albifrons well enough to predict how long it would take until it physically outgrows this tank, but it cannot be that much longer (months?).

What kind of tank do you have in mind to transfer them to?

I was thinking it was around 20 gallons or so. But if they are both 2" you will get at the most 2 months with them in that size tank.

Not long enough. You're talking about a foot long fish there. You're better off just getting the big tank as soon as you can and then buying the knives.

In a 15 gallon tank, the two fish will be fighting pretty much constantly. Just get one.

yes it will work, but like u know, it will need a larger tank. my largest was around 1.7 feet.

yup..u needed to upgrade in due time...u will most certainly need a big tank if u wana house those 2.
