question for the experienced - azgardens.com lists the candy stripe pleco as an algae eater, but ive read from other sources that they're not really too good for eating algae. so my question is - obviously - is the candy stripe good or OK for eating algae, and if not, what are some good small plecos (i.e. not 'common' plecos) for eating algae?

Some smaller plecos that are good algae eaters are the bulldog plec, and the bristlenose cat. I have no experience with the candy stripe, though.

Candystripe plecos, like almost all Peckoltia species, are not good algae eaters. Rather, they are wood-eating species and should have their tank furnished with driftwood.

hi cory addict... while youre around i'd like to get your opinion. ive been planning on getting bottom feeders for my 46 gallon tank which currently has 11 tiger barbs (soon to be ten, but thats another story... ) and i would like to get a school of cories. will they be alright with the tiger barbs? and what would be a good species for the tank? i assume the school should be about 6 since i dont want to overstock too much. thanks

Tiger barbs won't bother the cories, and yes, six is a good number for them. You could choose pretty much any cory species you want for the tank, there really isn't much of a difference in behavior and compatibility.
