i have a decently large (7 inch) channel cat fish in my ten gallon tank i know it is small for him but how much longer do u think it can go in a tiny tank such as the ten and wat size should it be put into and also wat other fish you would suggest that could go with it that will not be attacked

Well, frankly, that fish should never have been put into a 10. It's been too big for the tank for months now. You could probably stick him in something no less than a 75 right now, but, realize, he's going to outgrow that as well.

Channel cats get so big that generally only public aquaria can keep them successfully.

If possible, see if you can take him back the the LFS you got him from, or, alternately, if you caught him wild, let him go again.

Just to clarify, here's a pic of a good-sized channel cat. Generally speaking, a fish that can feed a family of 4 for several nights doesn't make the best aquarium inhabitant.
