I bought 2 of them yesterday.
But then i heard that they are not that good fish, they get aggressive then they get bigger..is that true?
The first day in my tank they already cleaned some of my rocks for algea, thats was good
They are now around 7-8cm big.
Do you think its ok to have them in my 75g tank or should i trade them in for some other algea eaters?
Thanks,
Robby

I used to have CAE but got turned off when i saw them eating slime from my Angels & Gourami's. They are great Algae Eaters but i would trade them with a BN & be sure that the BN is great with Algae Eating too.

Mine eat much more algae than my bristlenose, but as they get older they stop eating the algae so much, so long term, they don't keep it up.
Also they can get aggressive to each other and sometimes other fish...the slime eating thing puts lots of people off... short term they are a nice fish but in the long run maybe you might have some problems with them. I have two of the golden variety and they are really beautiful.

I think in a 75 gallon you may have much more luck than say having a CAE in a 20.
My experience with a golden CAE was that it was great @eating alge for a few weeks then quickly moved on to slime coat. However they were one of my first fish () and I didnt research them as well as I should have.
In your case I'd just keep an eye on them. Once you start to see agression I'd make a change but they may work for you.

Ok i will keep an eye on them.
But so far they have cleaned my tank a lot..the stones i have was full of algea but now the stones are clean.
If they get aggressive i will trade them and buy a BN later.

CAE are super for Algae cleaning & they can clean a tank in a day.
That's a good thing that your thinking of doing Robby. After their job, just trade them for a BN.

Now it's almost a week since i got the CAE.
And my tank has never been so clean
So the CAE is a superb algea eater
There are still some algea left, but as soon as they clean that too i will buy a BN.

I've got a spotted algae eater (G. pennocki), whose behaviour is the same as the CAE. It grows a little bigger, that's all.
I agree with CAE beying good algea eaters.
And as long as you keep them with actively swimming fish, they won't eat slime, because they simply can't get to it .
I keep mine with tinfoils and t-barbs and he's never hurt anyone.

by t-barbs I mean spanner barbs, not tigers, (just to be sure).
My spanners never hurt anyone ...
(might be because they are the "little ones" in the tank ... )
