i saw that two of my clown loachs we resting sideways next to a driftwood. but when the light was turned on the went back to normal. is this right.

yes. clown loaches have always "played dead", it's just one of the things they do that make them so interesting to watch

Clown Loaches do some wierd things, resting on their side is one of them. I have one that rests upside down under a rock overhang. Sometimes they all pile up in a corner. Other times they leapfrog around the perimeter of the tank, they remind me of a SWAT team. One will go forward a few inches and stop, then one from the pile will go past him and the pile will move up to the first one, then another will go past, so on and so forth. They're cool fish but kind of goofy.
